A Message from the PTA President
Hello, MacArthur students and families!
Happy 2020-2021 school year! The PTA board hopes this finds you well and that you’re getting the hang of distance learning. We miss seeing everyone around campus!
My name is Amy Vasquez and I am MacArthur’s 2020-2021 PTA President. I am a proud parent of a fifth and first grader. I have served on the PTA board for 4 years and counting. I enjoy being involved, meeting other parents, and bringing our school community together. My goal as president is to work hard and continue to build the MacArthur community. Corona Virus has put a little kink in my plan! The PTA board and I are open to suggestions on how to stay connected, engaged, and have fun during these unfamiliar times. We have been through a lot of trying times together, but through it all MacArthur Eagles have soared high above.
Thanks to our supportive families, last year’s annual Fit-a-thon was a huge success. We are not sure what fundraising will look like this year, but we hope to do some small fundraising activities and have a Fit-a-thon in the spring. One way you can support PTA now is by becoming a member today. The cost is $10 per person for a paper membership or $11 if you join online. Anyone can become a member: students, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, neighbors, etc. Becoming a member does not require you to volunteer, but it does give you the right to vote at meetings and the opportunity to voice your suggestions, input and ideas. The more family involvement we have, the more our students benefit. We are all a special piece of the puzzle!
Please join us for our first association meeting of the year via Zoom on Tuesday, September 29th at 6:30pm. We will discuss the activities that PTA plans to provide this year. Mrs. Yepez will hold a parent information meeting with updates at 6:00pm.
I’m looking forward to a great year. Stay healthy and hope to see everyone in person one day soon!
