Keepin' It Poppin' With MacArthur PTA

We currently have 292 members. Woot woot! Only 73 more members to go before we reach our goal of 100% participation (1 membership per student).

Paper forms can be found  in the school office or can be printed at home by clicking here:

Congratulations to Mrs. Stranahan's 3rd grade class for achieving 100% participation! Each class that reaches 100% membership will receive a popcorn party. Yum!

Trunk-or-Treat

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our annual Trunk-or-Treat on Friday,              October 25th. There were so many spook-tacular trunks and costumes! Thank you to our fang-tastic volunteers and custodians for helping us out with set-up, clean-up, and         supervision. We would also like to thank Charlie Garrison from the Well Church for MCing the event and playing fun music. And an extra special thank you to Vice-Mayor Jeff Wood and his wife Mrs. Wood for judging the car decorating contest!

We hope everyone had a wonderful time at this free and festive community event. Our next big event, the second annual MacArthur  Family Dance, is scheduled for Friday, April 3rd. We hope to see all our Eagles there! Thank you for supporting the MacArthur PTA.

A Message from the  PTA President

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed some time with family and friends over the break! October and November were very busy months for our MacArthur community. We had Scholastic Book Fair, Red Ribbon Week, Trunk-or-Treat, FIBO Art Workshops, and Fit-A-Thon. Thank you to all of our wonderful chairs for these events, Rebecca Davis, Heather Hubbard, Amy Vasquez, Jenny Beaton, Martina Jones, and Aurora Dunlap, plus all of the other volunteers that it took to pull it off! We couldn’t have done it without each of you!

On November 15th we had our biggest fundraiser of the year, Fit-a-Thon. Our students brought in almost $30,000 for this event! This is the most money ever raised for this event and we are so proud of our MacArthur family! Because of each of you, we are able to continue with all the programs we have planned for this year, including field trips, the FIBO art program, our spring family dance, and so much more. A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered for this event.  It was amazing to see so many of you helping out and supporting our MacArthur family!

We are currently at 77% of our membership goal for this year! If you haven’t yet, please join PTA and invite your friends and family to join, too. Remember that you can join online through our website www.macarthurpta.com or pick up a membership form on the table outside of the office.

At the November PTA association meeting we elected our Nominating Committee to begin putting together our 2020-2021 PTA Executive Board. If you are interested in serving on the PTA Executive Board next year, please fill out the nomination form in this newsletter and submit it to the office by December 20th. We’d love to have some new members join us next year!

Please mark your calendars and join us on    Tuesday, January 28th at 6:30pm in the school library for the next PTA Association Meeting. I wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Rockin' Fit-a-thon

Our fit-a-thon fundraiser and obstacle course was ROCKIN’! The fundraiser was the most successful Fit-a-thon ever, raising just shy of $30,000! It started out slow and steady but finished out strong all due to the help of over 180 participating students and their families, 65 of whom raised more than $200 each! Mr. Whitt’s class raised the most at $3305 while Mrs. Stranahan, Ms. Topper, Ms. Lutke, and Ms. King’s classes followed right behind by raising over $2600 each!

The obstacle course was a big hit and it couldn’t have happened without the help of all of our volunteers. Thanks to all of those who stayed after school to prep the day before, to those who got to school early to set up and to all the parents who shook their booties and danced for 3 hours straight for the kids! Please be on the lookout in the following week for an announcement of when to expect your prizes. On behalf of the PTA Board, we appreciate all of your help and we look forward to a fantastic year jammed packed with fun field trips, activities, and events at MacArthur Elementary.
